Life, Time

In this project, I aim investigate the ephemerality of human life itself. It is an opportunity for me to express the devastation that arises from the loss of our loved ones as well as to celebrate those family members I have lost over the years. In this case, this piece sees me create our family tree with everyone who has passed away; these loved ones are depicted as 'fruits ’ made of clay objects. However, the 'fruits' take on the shape of clocks because life is conventionally measured in the amount of years lived. But i like to think that there is more to life than that - the people left behind know how valuable a day, a month, or even a year means with a loved one.. Therefore, I believe that this project is personal for me and i also delve into an area of great interest for me: the human experience.
